Tooji Opfer homophober Ressentiments beim Osteuropa-lastigen ESC?

If you thought that your vote matters at Eurovision at all: Think again!!
A group of secret judges, selected by Eurovision officials, decide most of the points going to the countries the night before. One of these judges -Dutch comedian and presenter Carlo Boszhard, who was one of the selected judges, revealed this today. “On Monday, Wednesday and Friday the final dress rehearsals of the participants of the night are beamed to the judges who watch and give points for this performance: Not for the performances that are seen by the viewers on the night. The points of the viewers are added to this. So songs that may score higher on the night with the viewers could still score lower due to the judges vote.”
Information and interviews by the contestants are also open to debate and could add or lose the singers points. The Toppers, who represented The Netherlands in 2009 were thought to be dead certs to reach the finals. But they lost out on a final spot when their singer Gordon openly criticized Moscow’s gay rights and the violent response of the countries police to a gay pride protest. Most Eastern European countries are not that fond of someone being gay too openly. As Graham Norton said on Saturday night: “Men can do a lot of things in these countries, except one: that’s illegal.”
This year the same happened to Tooji, Norway’s entrée, about whom we reported earlier this week.
Carlo, who is openly gay himself, said: “We were all amazed that Norway scored this low. Tooji was tipped as a top ten act from the start. He was ranked highly on Thursday by all the judges and in all the polls. I have been told that the fact he is so openly gay and proud scared the judges of the more conservative countries and the Ukraine team. Yes, maybe he missed a few notes, but if you see some of the crap that did make the top ten …”

ESC in Baku: Norwegen Letzter, Großbritannien Vorletzter

Beides in meinen Augen skandalöse Fehlentscheidungen.
